Developing Customized Interview Training for New Immigrants in Canada

This page is meant to test your webcam and microphone before starting your interview. Please do the following:

  1. Please make sure you use a laptop or desktop computer. You cannot use your mobile phone.

  2. Use the Google Chrome browser if possible. Other browsers like Firefox or MS Edge should work too (but please avoid Safari).

  3. If you are using a laptop please make sure the battery is fully charged or you are plugged in to a power source.


  4. Please check to see that your camera and microphone are working by
    1. Select the appropriate webcam and microphone from the drop down menu (make sure you allow the site to access your webcam and mic when prompted).
    2. Select "allow" if prompted by your system to enable the website to use your camera and microphone. If you do not see such a prompt and the camera does not work, please check if you have a pop-up blocker in your browser and disable it.

    3. Click on START CAMERA & MICROPHONE TEST 
    4. Record a short test video: Click the START TEST RECORDING button, wait a few seconds for Recording to appear, make sure you say a few words, and then click STOP RECORDING when you are done.
    5. Then please watch the test video (a SEE RECORDING button will appear after a few seconds) and make sure that both image and sound are working properly.
    6. If it is, please proceed to the next page by clicking EVERYTHING IS OK.

  5. If you experience any technical difficulty:
    1. Try refreshing the page.
    2. Make sure you are not using any pop-up blocker or VPN that could prevent the website from functioning properly.

Note: Please do NOT use the back button while completing the interview or post-interview survey as your progress might be lost.
